Wrangling the Beast

This has been a week of full out editing on my 2013 release, with at least another week to go. Not easy, but fun. I like to see how the story and the characters come more clearly into focus. Once it is the best I can make it, I’ll send it to my editor, who will find other weakness that need to be strengthened. And I’m so grateful for that!

I believe this is the most complex story I’ve tried to write in the past 12 years. Not easy to do in first person, but I though I considered third person with multiple point of view characters for this story, it still seemed to beg to be told from Sadie’s point of view. And so it goes. I humbly covet your prayers this coming week as I finish wrangling this sometimes thrashing beast into submission.

I'm contemplating writing one in multiple POVs. Not exactly sure what I'm signing up for climbing in to all those heads. :D

You can do it! I've done it that way before and it can be so fun. And of course I love to read books like that, too! But for some reason right this minute my stories scream for 1st person. Weird. But you never know when that will change! :) Happy writing!

Anne, I am sooo glad you are writing from first person viewpoint. We don't have nearly enough of those kind of books out there. I like to find out what the hero is thinking when he chooses to tell the heroine. In real life we don't know what they are thinking unless they tell us.

Anyway, I am greatly looking forward to your new book in August/September. The plot is neat and the cover is gorgeous. They did a great job in not making the cover model look too modern. I think it's the eyebrows and not alot of obvious makeup. The hairstyle is beautiful too. It looks natural.

Oh, I read your post about watching North and South. Wonderful series. I've seen it several times and have read the book two or three times.

Thanks for your encouragement, Sylvia! I hope you enjoy the book coming out this fall. I hope to read North and South soon--and to rewatch the movie in the not-to-distant future. So glad you stopped over today! :)
